 Ladies and Gentlemen

On behalf of SportExcel I would like to welcome all of you for today’s media conference and launch of the 12th AmBank Group – SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship 2017.

The AmBank Group – SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship has grown over the years, with One hundred & Ten young talents from eight countries participating in this year’s edition.  It is now part of the Asia Pacific Junior Golf Association Series, and carries coveted World Amateur Golf Ranking points.  It also provides an excellent arena for the top Juniors from Asia Pacific to compete against their peers from around the region.  Since the introduction of the Hills Asia Pacific Golf Series in 2015, the tournament has become very competitive and this augurs well for the Development of Junior Golf in the region.

Once again, the top performers will be awarded scholarships to the reknowned Hills Golf Academy in Gold Coast, Australia.  I am certain that the scholarship awards, will spur the juniors to bring out the best in them.  Our juniors should set high targets and show the highest level of commitment to achieve their dreams.  Junior Golfers should keep on dreaming to be among the best in Asia. It is my hope that in the near future a Malaysian will emerge as a top golfer in Asia.

Our utmost gratitude goes out to the title sponsor, AmBank Group, who have been with us since 2006 and without whom this Championship would not be what it is today.  Thanks also to Hills Golf academy for adding value and making the tournament more attractive by offering scholarships.  Currently we have 2 Malaysians at the Hills Golf Academy namely, Ashley Lau who represented Malaysia and won the bronze medal in the 2017 SEA Games, and Zubair Firdaus, both by virtue of being champions at the 2016 11th AmBank Group – SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship.

We, at SportExcel together with AmBank Group will continue with our Vision and Mission to make this annual International Junior Golf championship a highly recognised tournament in the region

All the best for the Championship.
