All You Need to Know About the 12th AmBank Group – SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship 2017

The 12th AmBank Group – SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship 2017 is an annual tournament looked forward by many, Malaysian and foreigners. This year the event will be held at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, Shah Alam from 5th-7th December 2017. Glenmarie Golf & Country Club will be hosting the prestigious event for the first time.

What is interesting is that the event shall be competed at the Garden Course, the same course where the 2018 Eurasia Cup will be held.

Due to overwhelming responses from locals and internationals, the Organizing Committee has decided to increase the maximum number of participants to 120 players (100 players previously) which will compete in 1 of the 6 age group categories being contested. There will also be team competition.

Representatives from 9 countries have committed their participation to the event with 2 more awaiting confirmation. The event, which will be held over 3 days will have no cut.

The 12th AmBank Group – SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship is also a counting event for the World Amateur Golf Ranking, a value added to attract top junior in the region, if not the world.

Spectators can watch the event for free. However, the Committee will impose a refundable deposit prior to entering to the course.

Apart from the prestige of earning world ranking points, these juniors will also be competing for 5 scholarships program curtesy from the renowned Hills Golf Academy in Queensland, Australia. The best player from the Blue teeing ground (boy or girl) will receive a 1 year scholarship while top 4 Malaysian Junior Golfers, 2 boys from the Blue teeing ground and 2 girls from the White teeing ground will receive 1 month scholarships to Hills Golf Academy. If the winner of the 1 year scholarship is a Malaysian, then one of the four one-month scholarships would be awarded to an international and the other three to Malaysians.
