The 12th AmBank Group-SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship 2017 kicks off today with the Official Opening Ceremony. 107 players from 8 countries will tee-off tomorrow from 730am for trophies and 5 scholarships to the Hills Golf Academy in Australia.

The tournament was officiated by YM Tengku Tan Sri Imran Ibni Al-marhum Tuanku Jaafar, the chairman of Yayasan Kecemerlangan Sukan Malaysia (SportExcel) and AmBank’s Group Corporate Communication & Media head, Tuan Syed Anuar Syed Ali.

We hope for a highly competitive tournament with displays or fair play and high standard of sportsmanship from all the athletes competing this week. This year, we have some of the top age group golfers and notables. Featuring for Malaysia will be Ashley Lau, the 2017 SEA Games bronze medalist; Winnie Ng, the best Malaysian in 2017 Sime Darby LPGA; Zubair Firdaus, winner of 2016 Hills Scholarship and Afif Fathi, 2017 Nomura Cup star. Notables from the internationals are Pongsapak Laopakdee from Thailand, 2017 UKSG World No 2;  Wit Pitipat from Thailand; 2015 IMG Junior World Champion and many more

SportExcel and AmBank Group believe the future world beaters will emerge from this competition.
