2022 UUMISM-SportExcel Malaysian Junior Golf Tour concludes with rousing Grand Finals at Ayer Keroh

The UUMISM-SportExcel Malaysian Junior Golf Tour 2022 came to a successful conclusion with the staging of the Grand Finals at Ayer Keroh Country Club in Melaka on November 12-14. More than 200 golfers took part in the Grand Finals, including players from China, Singapore, Japan, Korea and Thailand. The Thai contingent consisted of 16 young talents from the Thailand Kids Golf (TKG) Tour, led by co-founder and president Sorravich Kunachon. The finale followed six preliminary rounds staged across the country, each attracting between 180 to 200 players. Like the legs, the Grand Finals featured a regular two-day junior tour event and a three-day Premier Division competition with the latter offering World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.

Overall champions Kaathiyayani Gunasegar and Muhammad Adif Haikal

While inclement weather over the weekend forced play to be shortened to 36 holes, WAGR points were still awarded to the two Premier Division overall champions – blue tee winner Muhammad Adif Haikal who signed in a score of 151 (74, 77), and white tee winner Kaathiyayani Gunasegar with a 157 total (80, 77). Organised by the Foundation for Malaysian Sporting Excellence (SportExcel) with the support of the Malaysian Golf Association, the circuit has been title sponsored by the University Utara Malaysia International Secondary School Melaka (UUMISM) for the last four years. UUMISM is located within the grounds of Ayer Keroh Country Club. Among the prizes on offer at the Grand Finals were golf scholarships at UUMISM, while each age/gender category also offered Player of the Year awards through an order of merit points system.
