Taiwan Junior Open 2024

SportExcel is pleased to announce that Yap Shu Yi (12 years old) and Woo Kay-Lynn (11 years old) have been selected to compete in the Category Girl C at the upcoming Taiwan Junior Open 2024 which will take place at Miramar Golf Country Club, Taiwan  from August 14th to 16th, 2024.

Yap Shu Yi has been competing in golf since the age of 7 and currently holds the top ranking for Girls under 12 in her state, Wilayah Persekutuan. She has consistently achieved podium finishes in most of the tournaments she has participated in. This year has been particularly successful for Shu Yi, as she has won 1^st placing in two out of the three SportExcel Junior Tournament Malaysia events that she has entered. Shu Yi favourite quote is “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”

Woo Kay-Lynn started playing competitive golf at the age of 9 and participated in her first tournament with SportExcel Junior in 2022. Her passion and determination to excel in her game have earned her 1^st place in the Order of Merit in the SportExcel Junior Tournament 2023.

In 2023, Kay-Lynn was given the opportunity by SportExcel to participate in her first international golf tournament, the Hainan Junior Golf Tour Grand Final 2023, in the Group B category. The experience inspired Kay-Lynn to strive for improvement in her game and to maintain a strong mental mindset when competing against older girls in the same category. As Kay-Lynn says, “Be patient.  It will come to you with hardwork”

Both athletes have demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill, and they are ready to give their all in this competition. Their hard work and commitment to excellence have earned them this remarkable opportunity. As they prepare to take on this challenge, we are confident that they will put forth their best effort and make us all proud.
