Yayasan Keemerlangan Sukan Malaysia (SportExcel), in partnership with Mazda, is set to kick off the U.S. Kids Golf Malaysia Local Tour 2023. The first two one-day tournaments will take place at Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) on October 31st and November 1st, with four more tournaments scheduled at different venues: Penang Golf Resort, Kepala Batas, on November 19th and 20th, and A’famosa Resort, Melaka, on December 2nd and 3rd. Each tournament will accommodate a maximum of 108 players. Mazda’s generous sponsorship of RM100,000 for the Local Tour has enabled SportExcel to introduce cash rebates for Malaysian participants, with those playing all six tournaments receiving a rebate of RM800.00, while playing less than 6 will earn them RM100.00 per tournament. Mazda’s support is complemented by contributions from The Agency College Recruit and Leonian (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. The initiative has been made possible through collaboration with golf clubs such as KGNS, Penang Golf Resort, A’famosa Resort, and Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, which have generously opened their courses to junior players. Support from Perbadanan Padang Golf Subang (PPGS) and Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS) underlines their commitment to the Sports for All initiative and junior golf development.

The U.S. Kids Golf Malaysia Local Tour focuses on providing age-appropriate competition for boys and girls aged 5 to 18, eliminating the need for extensive travel. Following the Local Tour, SportExcel will host the U.S. Kids Golf Malaysia Championship in Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in January 2024, which will feature international players based on their Priority Status level and is by invitation only. This initiative serves as a platform for nurturing young golf talent in Malaysia and providing elite players with the opportunity to participate in international championships worldwide. SportExcel aims to expand the program in 2024, organizing additional one-day Local Tour tournaments across Malaysia’s various regions. To ensure the continued success of this program, SportExcel hopes for Mazda’s ongoing financial support and encourages both private and public sectors to emulate Mazda’s generosity in promoting junior sporting excellence.
