Sanjay Reaches Bermuda Open Final

Malaysia’s squash player Sanjay Jeeva is just one match away from winning the Bermuda Open. World No. 76 and second seed Sanjay defeated Colombia’s seventh seed Edgar Ramirez 11-7, 11-9, 11-9 in the semi-finals yesterday. The United States-based Sanjay will face Colombia’s sixth seed Andres Herrera in the final. World No 122 Herrera upset compatriot Matias Knudsen 10-12, 10-12, 11-8, 11-5, 11-9 in the semi-finals.
Sanjay, 24, said: “Although I really want to win the title, my focus is staying patient and playing smart squash. “If I start thinking of winning the title, I will lose focus on how I should be playing.” National chief coach Ajaz Azmat said Sanjay should be able to beat Herrera in the final. “But Herrera is a tough player and Sanjay must stay on his toes. Anything can happen in the final but I have faith in Sanjay,” said Ajaz.
