Malaysian Contingent Bound For XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024 Given Royal Blessings

The Malaysian Contingent officially embarked upon the XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024 after the Flag Handing Ceremony was given the royal blessings by Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim at the Istana Negara on Tuesday, 2nd July 2024. In the auspicious occasion, Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong handed over the Jalur Gemilang to Minister of Youth and Sports, Y.B. Hannah Yeoh, who in turn passed it over to the President of OCM, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria. In a symbolic gesture signifying the Contingent’s readiness to take on the rest of the world, Tan Sri Dr. Norza handed over the Jalur Gemilang to Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent, Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.
Also present at the Ceremony were Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Director General of the National Sports Council (NSC), Abdul Rashid Yaakub, Vice President of OCM, Dato’ Paduka Mumtaz Jaffar, Secretary General of OCM, Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin and Assistant Treasurer of OCM, Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali. The Athlete’s Pledge was then read out by Johnathan Wong Guanjie OLY (Shooring). The Malaysian Contingent will be represented by 25 athletes participating in nine out of the 32 sports contested in Paris. The final number of athletes is 26, depending on the sole universality slot to be determined by the Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF). The flagbearers of the Malaysian Contingent during the Opening Ceremony on Friday, 26th July 2024 will be Bertrand Rhodict Lises (Diving) and Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif OLY (Sailing).
