On the morning of August 13, 2024, the much-anticipated 2024 “Oak Grove Cup” China-Hainan Youth Golf Tour Malaysia Station was grandly opened at the Glenmarie Golf Course in Malaysia. Many players from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and Japan gathered here. This is the first time the event has returned to this significant venue after five years. Five years ago in 2019, we held a wonderful event here and planted a sapling symbolizing friendship. Today, the sapling has grown vigorously under the careful care of the Glenmarie Stadium and is now more than one meter tall. Its existence seems to be silently witnessing the continuation of this deep friendship and event. That morning, players from Groups AB set out from Hole No. 1 and Hole No. 10 of the Glenmarie Golf Course in high spirits to start the fierce competition in the first round of this Youth Tour.

The competition in Men’s A group was fierce. LOE JING YU (Malaysia) performed well and took the lead temporarily with a score of 74. BENEDICT WONG (Malaysia) and JONATHAN PARAMANANTHAN (Malaysia) both scored excellent scores of 75 and were in hot pursuit. In the Men’s B group, CHAN JUN HAN (Malaysia) and JAEHOON CHEONG (Malaysia) tied for the top spot with a score of 78, while MICHAEL CHIA SOON YANG (Malaysia) was third with a score of 79.

The competition in the women’s group was equally exciting. In the women’s group A, JEON KYURI (Korea) performed amazingly, scoring the only negative score of 70, outperforming the others. MEGAN EUSE SABAPATHY (Malaysia) scored 79. In the Women’s B category, ADRIANA PREWA SIM (Malaysia) dominated with 75, ANESSHA EVA VELU (Malaysia) shot 76, and MELLVNNA NAIR PRESNATH (Malaysia) shot 78, tied for third with Wang Enxi from China. In the first round, the players not only showed superb golf skills, but also showed their indomitable competitive spirit. Tomorrow, the players of Group C\D will also take to the court. Let us look forward to their more wonderful performances in the subsequent games and continue to write a glorious chapter in the golf field.

The 2024 “Oak Grove Cup” China-Hainan Youth Golf Tour Malaysia Station is hosted by the Hainan Golf Association, co-organized by the Malaysia Sports Excellence Foundation, and named by the Hainan Oak Grove Golf Club. The event has received strong support from the China Golf Association, the Malaysia Golf Association, and the Hainan Sports Vocational and Technical College.
