The stage is set for another exciting season of junior golf as the U.S. Kids Golf Malaysia Local Tour 2026, presented by Mazda, returns to Central Malaysia with six tournaments at Bukit Kemuning Golf & Country Resort.

Organised by SportExcel, the tour will welcome Malaysian and international boys and girls aged five to 18 across three competition weekends:

• 12–13 September 2026
• 17–18 October 2026
• 5–6 December 2026, concluding with the Tour Championship

Each competition day is a separate one-day stroke-play tournament, giving young golfers six opportunities to compete and develop throughout the season. Players aged five to eight will compete over nine holes, while those aged nine to 18 will play 18 holes, with tees and course yardages adapted to suit each age group.

Medals will be awarded to the top five finishers, including ties, in each boys’ and girls’ age category.

A pathway beyond local competition

One of the tour’s biggest attractions is the pathway it provides to higher levels of competition.

Players can earn U.S. Kids Golf Priority Status based on their performance across the season. To qualify through a Local Tour, a player must participate in at least four events within the same tour, with their two lowest scores used to determine their status.

Priority Status determines when players receive invitations to multi-day tournaments, including international events and the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships at Pinehurst, North Carolina.

The tour combines serious junior competition with a format designed around young players and their families. Age-appropriate course set-ups provide a fair challenge, while the one-day structure makes tournament participation more manageable. Parent caddies are also encouraged, bringing families closer to the experience and creating lasting memories on the course.

Building on a strong foundation

SportExcel introduced the U.S. Kids Golf Malaysia Local Tour in 2023 with six one-day tournaments across Kelab Golf Negara Subang, Penang Golf Resort and A’Famosa Golf Resort. Strong participation and positive support from families helped the tour grow rapidly, with the programme expanding to 18 Local Tour events in 2024.

The wider U.S. Kids Golf programme in Malaysia has also developed an increasingly international profile. The inaugural Malaysian Championship in 2024 attracted more than 100 junior golfers from 16 countries, demonstrating Malaysia’s growing position as a destination for junior golf.

The success of the tour lies in its ability to offer young golfers regular, well-structured competition while connecting local development with international opportunities.

SportExcel has operated a nationwide junior golf circuit since 1992, creating platforms through which young golfers can gain tournament experience, build confidence and progress towards higher levels of the game. With six tournaments ahead, every round offers something to play for. Whether a young golfer is entering an organised competition for the first time or pursuing Priority Status for future international opportunities, the Central Malaysia Local Tour promises an exciting season of learning, competition and memorable moments.

Registration is now open, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The regular registration deadlines for the opening tournaments are 7 September for the 12 September event and 8 September for the 13 September event. All deadlines follow U.S. Eastern Time and an additional US$15 applies during late registration.
