Three days of competitive junior golf concluded on Merdeka Day as the fourth leg of the SportExcel Malaysian Junior Golf Tour 2026 came to a close at A’Famosa Golf Resort, Melaka.

The capacity field featured 217 golfers across 14 boys’ and girls’ categories. The 60-player Premier Division comprised Groups A and B competing over 54 holes, while the two-day Junior Circuit included 93 players in Groups A, B and C and 64 younger golfers across Groups D and E.

Groups A, B and C played 36 holes across the Rocky and Palm courses. The younger Groups D and E completed two nine-hole rounds on the Crocodile Course. This progressive structure allows golfers to compete at a level suited to their age and experience before advancing towards the longer and more demanding Premier format.

The Premier Boys A competition produced the most compelling finish. Muhammad Farish Abdullah entered the final round seven strokes behind overnight leader Muhammad Eiqbal Aisy bin Mohd Elauddin but responded with a composed 73. His total of 221, five over par, secured a one-stroke victory over Eiqbal, with Alif Iskandar bin Ishak finishing third on 223.

The result gave Farish his second consecutive Premier Boys A title following his victory in the third leg at Tasik Puteri.

Khaleed Ikhwan Azim bin Dato’ Mohd Nafidz delivered the most consistent Premier performance of the tournament. Rounds of 72, 74 and 74 gave him a total of 220 and a six-stroke victory in Premier Boys B. As the lowest combined scorer across the boys’ Premier categories, he also earned the Best Overall Blue Tee honour.

In Premier Girls B, Choi Quinn-Cie closed with a 73 to win on 223, four strokes ahead of Wong Jo Yi. Her performance also secured the Best Overall White Tee honour.

Premier Girls A produced the closest finish, with Nurfaithya Emylda binti Azriul Nizan and Khu Yuan Puah sharing the leading total after both completed the 54 holes on 226, ten over par.

The Junior Circuit also delivered several impressive performances. Choi Yunseo recorded rounds of 73 and 70 to win Junior Girls A on 143, one under par. She was the only Junior Circuit champion to complete the tournament below par.

The other Junior Circuit champions were:

• Boys: Isaac Chin, Group A – 151; James Yan, Group B – 161; Che Faidh Amsyar bin Faizul, Group C – 149; Raiyan Mohd Amri, Group D – 74; and Muhammad Qal Farez bin Hilmi, Group E – 83.
• Girls: Woo Kay-Lynn, Group B – 160; Thania Tamira Rao, Group C – 152; Hana Miura, Group D – 74; and Wong Jo Vi, Group E – 84.

The continued use of live e-scoring throughout the tournament allowed scores and leaderboards to be followed in real time, while giving the young golfers experience with systems increasingly used at higher levels of competition.

Young Golfers Take on PGAM Chipping Challenge

The second day also featured the PGA of Malaysia Junior Chipping Challenge, organised by the PGA of Malaysia as a special side event in conjunction with the Tour.

A total of 42 participants tested their short-game skills with two shots from both 10 and 20 metres. The best shot from each distance counted towards the final score, rewarding accuracy, distance control and composure around the green.

Muhammad Riyadh bin Mohd Ariff emerged as the overall winner with 13 points. Riz Khameel bin Ross Rafizal, Aqil Mifzal, M. Aqlan and Maruto shared second place with ten points each, with prizes presented to the top 15 participants.
